Twin Tunnel Project Update

This project, which adds a new eastbound lane from east of Idaho Springs to Floyd Hill, is on schedule.  In fact, the new lane from east of the Twin Tunnel to Floyd Hill will open in the next month!  The new eastbound lane through the widened tunnel will be open by the end of December.  More detail can be found here: http://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/CODOT/2013/10/03/file_attachments/242669/Oct_2013.pdf

Weekend traffic on I-70 is unlikely for the next several weeks.  Here is what you might expect this weekend:

Friday WB:  With a chance of snow in the forecast, you should allow extra travel time.  There could be some slowing from Floyd hill through the Twin Tunnels during the late afternoon and early evening.

Saturday WB:  The weather forecast is for a mix of sun and clouds.  No significant congestion is anticipated, but travel could be slow from late morning to early afternoon around the Twin Tunnel Project.

Saturday EB: No congestion-related delays are anticipated.

Sunday EB: No congestion-related delays are anticipated.

October 13 will mark the beginning of Colorado’s ski season with the opening of Arapahoe Basin.  Ski on!
