Carpooling Made Easy!
GoI70.com is partnering with the well-established and successful SkiCarpool.org to facilitate carpooling to the mountains. SkiCarpool is a nonprofit organization that facilitates carpooling to Colorado resorts through their website. Also, GoI70 has gathered many of the carpooling incentives offered by ski areas and put them in one place, so check them out here.
SkiCarpool is very straightforward and easy to use. First create a Profile then check the Rideboard. If you don’t see a post that meets your needs to either offer a ride or share a ride, post your info on the Rideboard for a specific date. Or you can ’Search Profiles’ to find a driver or rider that skis your favorite area on the days you might be traveling. Next, call or leave a message for individuals to make plans. SkiCarpool lets you leave messages for other people and provides a mailbox to manage your messages. They have also done some Facebook integration. They’ve created a Facebook Page where users can share about their day on the slopes. Also, when using SkiCarpool.org you are given the opportunity to ‘post to Facebook’ any trips you post to the Rideboard
You need to make your own judgment on whom you travel with. Every SkiCarpool user has agreed to the Terms of Use when creating their Profile. In addition, SkiCarpool recommends you exchange some verifiable personal information like a driver’s license, and meet in a public place before committing to going on the trip. Only you can determine whom you are comfortable traveling with! It is up to the individuals to determine how expenses might be shared, but passengers should expect to contribute gas money, unless discussed otherwise.
Make friends, not traffic and use SkiCarpool.org, then check GoI70.com/mobile while on the road for the latest road and traffic info.
In addition to saving some money, decreasing your collective carbon footprint, and relieving I70 congestion, you might even make some new riding friends along the way!
