The Game

Guess the Mess is a game testing your knowledge of the peak time travel patterns on I-70. The game is simple. Predict the time of the peak traffic for east bound delay on the I-70 corridor this coming Sunday, March 14, between 3:00pm and 8:00pm.

The first prize is a pair of lift tickets to Copper Mountain. Four runner up prizes include 2 passes to the Vail Parking Garage, and 2 pair of Teko ski socks.

How to Play

Post a tweet to @goi70, this Sunday anytime before 3:00 pm (mountain standard time). Include your estimate of the peak delay and when you think the peak will occur. You can also enter by sending an email to games at GoI70.com.

It’s simple, the peak delay on a trip from Vail to Morrison on President’s Day was 66 minutes and it occurred at 4:15 pm. The GoI70 blog has a useful guide to understanding when the peak usually happens and graphs of the most recent and relevant experience. We want you to know everything you need to know to win.

We held our first contest Sunday, February 21st. The perfect answer for the February 21st contest would have been:  @goI70 Peak delay of 141 minutes at 4:42pm. (We will announce the winners of the first contest – the person who came nearest to this answer – as soon as we’ve contacted and notified them.)

The Rules

1. The contest begins on Sunday February, 21 at 6:30 am. (mst)

2. Guess up to 3 times.

3. Your last message posted on Sunday, March 7th before 3:00 pm (mst) will be your official entry in the contest.

4. The person who most closely predicts the time of the peak delay will be the winner (for example, 5:10pm). Ties will be broken based on who most accurately predicts the extent of the delay (for example, 85 minutes). If needed to break multiple ties, the winner will be the entry with the earliest final entry time stamp. Finally, if necessary, GoI70.com will break any remaining ties by use of a random drawing conducted by Random.org.

5. GoI70 will use the two minute delay computed from the CDOT traffic speed data for the I70 corridor from Vail to Morrison as the actual delay. Highway segments with no reported information will be estimate as having no delay.

6. The winner will be notified via direct Twitter message and will have 24 hours to notify GoI70 that they wish to claim their prize.

7. In order to claim a prize, you must be 18years old or have a parent or guardian claim your prize for you.

8. The notified winner must sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, an acknowledgment of the terms of use policy, a waiver of liability and a publicity release within 48 hours of receiving them from GoI70. (Sounds like a lot of paperwork, but it is only about 6 sentences long.)

9. If the prize is not claimed or the releases are not signed and returned, GoI70 will continue down the list of most accurate predictions until we find a winner.

By entering this Contest, each participant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules and by all decisions of GoI70.com, whose decisions regarding all aspects of the Contest shall be final.

PRIZE DETAILS

GoI70 will award a 2 person, 2 day ski package to Breckenridge Ski Resort to single contestant who comes closest to the right answer according to the rules above. There is a limit of one prize per person. Tickets must be completed by close of ski season 2010 or prize will be forfeited in its entirety and no compensation given. Runners up will receive either a gift certificate to the Dillon Dam Brewery or a pair of Teko socks. Gift certificates must be used and socks worn by the end of 2011 or they will be forfeited in their entirety and no compensation given.

Winner is solely responsible for any and all Federal, state and local taxes and fees assessed as a result of the prize. Prizes may not be transferred, substituted or redeemed for cash, except at the discretion of the GoI70.com. GoI70.com reserves the right to substitute a prize with a prize of equal or greater value.

By accepting a prize, the winner grants permission for GoI70.com’s use of the name, hometown, likeness, photograph, voice and statements of winner for advertising/publicity purposes without further compensation or permission, unless prohibited by law.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

BY RESPONDING TO THE NOTIFICATION OR ACCEPTING THE AWARD, EACH PARTICIPANT RELEASES AND HOLDS HARMLESS GOI70.COM AND ITS AFFILIATES AND RELATED INDIVIDUALS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, LOSSES, EXPENSES, INJURIES, CLAIMS AND ACTIONS OF ANY KIND ARISING OUT OF OR RESULTING FROM PARTICIPATION IN THIS CONTEST OR FROM ACCEPTANCE, USE OR MISUSE OF ANY PRIZE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, CLAIMS BASED ON DEATH, PUBLICITY RIGHTS, DEFAMATION OR INVASION OF PRIVACY.

By participating in this Contest, each participant further agrees that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this  contest shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and any judicial proceeding shall take place in a federal or state court within the State of Colorado. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant and GoI70.com in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions (whether the State of Colorado or any other jurisdiction), that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Colorado.
GoI70.com reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of this ContestContest or any website related to this Contest, acting in violation of these Official Rules or acting in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any use of robotic, automatic, programmed or the like entry methods will void all such entries by such methods, and disqualify any entrant using any such method.

ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE RELATED TO THIS Contest OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST MAY BE VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, GOI70.COM RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

GoI70.com is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by users of any website related to this Contest, by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in this Contest. GoI70.com assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or tampering with or hacking of, any website related to this Contest or any technical failure or malfunction. If, for any reason, this Contest is not capable of running as planned, including, without limitation, by reason of, infection by computer virus, bugs, worms, tampering, hacking, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which, in GoI70’s sole judgment, corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, GoI70.com reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Contest, and select winners from entries received prior to action taken, as GoI70.com, in its sole judgment, deems fair and in accordance with these Official Rules without notice to entrants. In the event that this Contest is challenged by any legal or regulatory authority, GoI70.com reserves the right to discontinue or modify this Contest, or to disqualify participants residing in any affected geographic areas. In such event, GoI70.com shall not have any liability to any participants who are disqualified as a result of such an action.
