FAQ

1. What is GoI70

GoI70 is a set of web-based planning tools for travelers along Colorado’s Interstate 70 mountain corridor. GoI70 presents the best information available about all aspects of travel along I-70, including near real-time traffic conditions, weather from a variety of sources, ski reports and a fully searchable Google map.

The GoI70 Blog will highlight expected travel conditions and give tips on avoiding I-70’s periodic traffic congestion.  The Messages feature will keep travelers up to date with the latest highway conditions through text or SMS messages.

2. Where do I find all this information?

Most of the information you will want to plan a trip to the mountains is on the main page and in the most recent blog posts.

The GoI70 map is a fully searchable Google-based map that will allow you to explore the places you want to visit, search for a destination and map a trip with driving directions. Double click on a spot on the map and the map will zoom in at that spot.

The Interactive Map feature on the control panel on the right includes a variety of ways to search for traffic conditions, weather, things to do, anything you can think of really.

The Trip Planning panel gives driving directions, includes current speeds from the Colorado Department of Transportation broken down by trip segment and allows you to see how long the trip delay was on the corresponding day of the week the year before and last week.

The Messages tab is where you find the most up-to-date information about conditions from fellow I-70 travelers.

3.   What is the GoI70 social network?

The GoI70 social network is the message board for the I-70 community. You will find up to date information about highway conditions, weather reports, current events along the route, observations and questions from I-70 travelers, as well as links to important information about I-70.

Anyone with information about highway conditions or corridor events may post to Messages at GoI70.  If you are traveling, living or working along I-70 between Denver and Glenwood Springs you are part of the GoI70 community.

4.  How do I use the GoI70 social network?

GoI70 members can post messages about anything relevant to travelers along I70 including, road conditions, weather and snow updates, discussions of corridor events or requests for information – whatever is relevant to the travelers use and experiences along the I-70 corridor.

To become a member and join in the GoI70 conversation, go to the Messages tab on the control panel on the GoI70 main page. You will see a blue box that says “Sign in with Twitter.” Step-by-step instructions for using the network are here.

5.  How can I get highway updates sent to my phone while I travel?

After signing up with the GoI70 social network you can receive text messages in the following manner.

Log on to Twitter directly (not through the GoI70 interface) and you will be sent to your Twitter home page. To the right of the “What are you doing?” text box is your screen name and the number of people you are following. Click on “following” and you will be taken to the list that includes GoI70.

To the right of GoI70 logo are two buttons. The first one turns the mobile text alerts on and off.

6.  I only travel to the mountains on weekends. Is it easy to turn the text messages on and off?
