Social Network/Messages
What is the GoI70 Social Network?
Whenever we travel along I-70 we become part of a temporary community with many intersecting interests. In the past there was only the limited ability to contact the others in this community. GoI70 is a place where everyone in the I-70 community can gather for news and conversation.
The GoI70 social network can be found under the Messages tab of the Control Panel on the main page or on your smart phone by going to http://GoI70.com/mobile on your browser.
If you are traveling, living or working along I-70 between Denver and Glenwood Springs you are part of the GoI70 community. To become a member and join in the GoI70 conversation, go to the Messages tab on the control panel on the GoI70 main page.
Members can post messages about anything of interest to the I70 community including, road conditions, weather and snow updates, discussions of corridor events or requests for information – whatever is relevant to the members use and experiences along the I-70 corridor.
How to Join the GoI70 Social Network
We use the Twitter social networking application as the underlying programming for the GoI70 social network. To join the GoI70 conversation, go to the main page of GoI70.com and look for the Control Panel on the right of the map, select the Messages tab. On the upper left of the Messages area is a blue box that says “Sign In with Twitter” – click it.
If you already have a Twitter account it will take you to the Twitter sign in page where you can enter your user name and password. Twitter will verify your account and send you back to GoI70. Now you can post messages to Go I70 (You do not have to visit your Twitter home page when using GoI70.)
If you do not have a current Twitter account, Click “Sign In with Twitter” and follow the instructions for creating a new account. You will need to choose a screen name and provide an email account for contact. The screen name that you choose will be your name on the GoI70 site. If you turn on “geotagging” (just under your location in Settings) your tweets will be located on the GoI70 map. Once you have an account, be sure to sign up to “follow” GoI70.
If you want to have GoI70 updates and messages from users delivered to your mobile device, go to Twitter’s Home page, select “Settings” in the upper right of the page and, then, select the “Mobile” tab. There you can choose a mobile number to receive text messages and you can limit the times when you receive them.
It is easy to turn the text message feature on and off if you only want to receive texts occasionally. You do this by going directly to Twitter and selecting the “following tab on your home page. Find GoI70 on your “following” list , there are four icons to the right of our name. The first button will turn on the text forwarding feature.
If you want to have the Messages of other GoI70 contributors sent to your phone, find their screen names on your list and select the first button.
To send a message to the social network go back to GoI70 and type your text in the box “What’s the drive like where you are?”
