The fresh snow from Wednesday’s storm will make ski conditions ideal but travel conditions less so as we approach another holiday weekend. More people will be heading to the mountains to hit the slopes over Presidents Day weekend – historically, the one of the busiest ski weekends of the year.
“Presidents Day weekend was the seventh-busiest of 2021 as measured by vehicles passing through the Eisenhower-Johnson Tunnels (152,999) and was the third-busiest of the ski season behind New Years weekend and Martin Luther King Day weekend,” according to The Denver Post.
Approximately 12.6 million total drivers traveled through the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel in 2021, marking an 11 percent increase compared to the 11.3 million travelers in 2020. In January 2022, roughly 1.1 million motorists traveled through, compared to 863,388 last year.
