Fall is Ideal Travel Season

The coming weeks are some of the best times to visit the Colorado Mountains.  The weather is still great, the crowds are gone, and I-70 traffic is not much of a factor.  There are still some times you want to avoid, so travel off-peak and enjoy a delay-free trip on I-70!

Weekend Travel Forecast

Friday WB – Slow traffic is possible between 2:00-7:00 p.m. in the Floyd Hill to Idaho Springs area.

Saturday WB – Expect some delays between 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  There might be up to 30 minutes delay time, with peak traffic occurring right around noon.

Saturday EB - No congestion-related delays are anticipated.

Sunday EB - Afternoon eastbound congestion will likely be a factor from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the peak delays occurring between 1:00-5:00 p.m.  The last two years saw peak delays of 30 minutes, and CDOT metered traffic at the Eisenhower Tunnel to keep traffic from backing up in the tunnel.
