Thanksgiving Mountain Travel
Historically, westbound traffic is spread out during the Thanksgiving holiday week and weekend, but eastbound delays are very possible. Other than moisture Tuesday, the weather will cooperate with those driving I-70 over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Tuesday WB: Volume should not be an issue, but be prepared for morning snow west of the Continental Divide.
Wednesday WB: No volume-related delays are anticipated.
Thursday WB: This is not a big travel day along the corridor.
Friday WB: There might be periods of slowing throughout the day, but no significant volume-related delays.
Saturday WB: There wasn’t any morning traffic on this day the last several years, but it is always safest to avoid the 6:30-11:00 a.m. timeframe on any Saturday morning.
Sunday WB: No volume-related delays are anticipated, but the forecasted snow west of the Eisenhower Tunnel could impact travel.
Tuesday EB: Be prepared for snow and slower travel in Summit County and the Vail Valley.
Wednesday EB: Historical data shows approximately 30 minutes delay between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. this evening.
Thursday EB: No volume-related delays are anticipated.
Friday EB: No volume-related delays are anticipated.
