Memorial Weekend & I-70 Travel
Summers are too short to spend time in I-70 traffic and GoI70.com is here to help! Every Thursday, GoI70.com posts a travel forecast specific to the coming weekend. We consider the weather forecast, large events taking place on the corridor, and pour over lots of historic traffic data to give you a good idea of the best times to travel. This weekend marks the unofficial beginning of summer, and although traffic delays should not be significant, traveling at off-peak traffic times is your best bet. The weather is forecasted to be sunny and warm, with a chance of thunderstorms Monday afternoon.
Friday WB – Expect traffic to be thick between 4:00-6:00 pm as folks head up to the mountains for the long weekend. Last year travelers experienced very minimal delays.
Saturday WB – There will likely be some slowing mid-day. Last year there were 20 minute delays between 11:00 am-2:00 pm.
Saturday EB- There were no eastbound delays last year on this holiday weekend.
Sunday EB – There might be some heavy volume in the afternoon, but delays should not be at all significant.
Monday EB – Expect heavy volume heading back to the Front Range between 12:30 and 3:30. The delays were minimal last Memorial Day.
Enjoy the holiday weekend!
