Most I-70 corridor ski areas reward guests who arrive with four or more to a vehicle. Arapahoe Basin will discount your lift ticket, Copper Mountain and Keystone will give you close-in free parking, and Breckenridge will reduce your parking fee. And if you didn’t already know, the Wooly Mammoth Dinosaur Lot at I-70 and the Morrison Exit is THE Front Range meet up spot for skier carpools and rideshare. Weekend Travel Forecast
The weather should be dry Friday but moderate to heavy snow will move in Saturday evening and light snow will continue on Sunday. Based on this same weekend in recent years, here is what you might expect for traffic patterns this weekend.
Friday WB – There was no traffic congestion on this day over the last three years.
Saturday WB – As is the typical pattern, traffic will build very quickly starting at 6:00 a.m., be at its heaviest around 8:00 a.m. and will last until Noon. Last year on this Saturday, very heavy traffic caused an additional 1.5 hours of travel time from C470 to Frisco.
Sunday WB - Sunday morning WB traffic is typically lighter than Saturday morning. There were no delays on this day last year, but there are a lot of powder starved skiers who will be looking for fresh snow. Heavier volumes and snowy roads could result in slower travel 6:30 a.m.– Noon.
Saturday EB- Traffic will start to build around 2:00 p.m. and continue until around 8:00 p.m. The heaviest traffic is likely between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m.
Sunday EB –The past three years, this Sunday saw only minimal delays but with a possible powder day and winter weather in the forecast, it will be best to avoid the 2:00 pm-7:00 pm timeframe. As always, check CoTrip.org before you travel.
