School's In Session
Now that most schools are back in session, we are seeing lower volumes on the I-70 mountain corridor. This weekend is an excellent time to fit in another trip to the high country before the temperatures drop. Avoid the peak travel times outlined below to enjoy a delay-free trip!
Weekend Travel Forecast
Other than the typical chance of afternoon thunderstorms, the mountain weather should not disappoint this weekend.
Friday Westbound: Some slowing is possible from 1:00-6:00 p.m., especially in the Floyd Hill to Idaho Springs area. This congestion might add 15-20 minutes to your trip.
Saturday Westbound: Expect slowing between Floyd Hill and Idaho Springs between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., resulting in approximately 20 minutes extra travel time.
No volume-related delays are expected.
Last year there was enough volume that CDOT metered traffic at the Eisenhower Tunnel. There were 20-30 minute delays between 11:00 and 6:30 p.m.
