A Snowy I-70 Weekend

Our friends at OpenSnow.com are calling for an active weather pattern through this weekend, and just a little bit of weather can have big impacts on Interstate 70.  Be sure to check the weather and CoTrip.org before you travel, and plan for extra travel time if snow is in the forecast.

Friday WB –Slowing between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. is common this time of year. The next storm will move into the I-70 corridor Friday evening.

Saturday WB – Traffic will be heavy due to volume from 6:00 a.m. to about 11:00 a.m. and last year travelers experienced an extra 50 minutes of travel time from C470 to Silverthorne.  Snow is expected, and snow-packed roads could exacerbate the length and severity of delays.

Saturday EB- Slower travel speeds could be encountered from 2:00 pm.-6:00 p.m.  In recent years, it only caused about 15 minutes of extra travel time.

Sunday WB – Traffic is unlikely, unless weather or accident-related.

Sunday EB – Moderate to heavy traffic is likely between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and last year it caused travelers about 45 minutes of extra time to go from Frisco to C470.  Avoid the rush and take advantage of a GoI70.com Peak Time Deal.

Enjoy the fresh turns!
