Starting this summer, the Town of Vail will implement daytime parking fees at its Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures—a significant shift from the town’s longstanding tradition of offering free summer parking. This change will help raise funding for the $10.5 million in repairs and maintenance needed for these structures over the next five years.
On the bright side? It is easy to travel to Vail and get around town using transit. For those traveling from the Denver metro area, both Bustang and Pegasus are regional transit options that drop you at the doorstep of many mountain towns along the I-70 Mountain Corridor. Once you arrive, you can use local transit to get around.

To support the change in parking fees, Vail Transit will expand its free summer schedule to provide a 15-minute frequency for the East Vail Route. The West Vail Express and Lionshead Loop service, which previously didn’t operate in the summer, will now be in service. View the full schedule here. This service will complement an enhanced summer schedule announced by Core Transit, which is free throughout the majority of Eagle County.
